Bloom tag

The Tag You're It challenge this week is to use a given sketch. I omitted to use an embellishment on the oval as I thought it detracted from the image.

So thoughtful

The Lots to Do theme today is red and white. I find this a very hard combination, so therefore a hard challenge.
I used a sketch from 2Peas, and in addition used patterned paper, eyelets and ribbon from my stash.

Stamps : HA Heartfelt Messages; Stampington Butterfly Girl

Inks : Adirondack Cranberry and Red Pepper

Extras : PP by Crate paper and Imaginisce; MM Eyelet; Waxy Flax Cherry

There's no place like home

This is a card for Steve for our wedding anniversary today. 22 years - can you believe it?! He is architect trained, so couldn't resist this stamp set when I took Catherine to the NEC Quilts Festival yesterday. I also bought the ribbons, which I couldn't get to lie straight, but no fabric - which stunned everybody at home as I'm a sucker for batiks!. Most of my money went on art materials for Catherine.

I used the August #3 sketch from 2Peas, and diluted the alcohol inks with pearl mixative on a craft mat.

Stamps : Stewart Gill PB1

Inks : Archival Black; Alcohol Inks Cranberry, Butterscotch, Espresso and Pearl Mixative

Extras : MM RubOns; Q&Co Brad; ribbons from 21st Century yarns; Glossy card; Prima Flowers; Circle Punch

Lanterns

Well, I'm back from all my gallivanting. I spent a week in France with the Youth Orchestra (with 24 hours' notice!!), came back to do some frantic washing and sleeping, and then went to the Lleyn peninsula in Wales with the family for a week. Talk about contrasts in weather - France was boiling (I'm not much of a heat lover), whereas Wales was cold and wet. I've spent all of today washing and ironing, and getting my phone sorted out after 2 weeks of it being out of order.

Back to crafting with a smile. Here's a card I made for the Lots to do Challenge on the theme of Oriental, using a sketch from 2Peas. There should be brads on the ribbon but I felt they intruded. Note to self - buy more oriental stamps...

Stamps : Judikins Beneath a Plum Tree; A Stamp in the Hand Round Lantern

Extras : DCWV Far East and Neutrals mat stacks; Waxy Flax Sage; Detail Gold EP; Woolworths RubOns; Ribbon recycled from a chocolate box

Poppy

The Lots to do challenge is silhouettes. All the examples on the blog use people, so I hope silhouettes of plants are OK. I also used the July week 2 sketch from 2Peas.

I diluted the sprays and they still came out this vivid - boy, they are really bright colours!! I know that the title should say poppies, but I've run out of 'e's!

---

Stamps : Stampington Fresh Flowers Elements

Inks : Adirondack inks and colorwash sprays in Stream and Wild Plum

Extras : Perfect Pearls in Gold and Pearl; Pearlescent Grey and Black paper; MM RubOns and Ribbon; Sequin Waste

Studded Door

Arty Girlz have a sketch challenge this week. Here is my interpretation of it using DarkRoom Door stamps that I won during the World Stamping week at 2peas. I am sending it to Rachel Grieg to say thank you. To my eye it looks skew-whiff, but I placed each section with the help of a ruler!

Stamps : DarkRoom Door

Inks : DI Shabby Shutters, Peeled Paint and Antique Linen; Archival Black; DI refill Tea Dye; Adirondack Rust

Extras : PP by Junkitz; PM Domed Stickers; Perfect Pearls Gold and Pearl

Rejoice

The Salt challenge is something I've neglected for a while, but I loved the Rejoice theme up currently. I used the June week 3 sketch from 2Peas. The chipboard buckle was painted and painted and painted, so I couldn't possibly list all the inks it took to get this effect! The intention was to match the papers, which I think was successful.

Spring Flowers

Today has been so beautiful. I've been out for a walk and coffee with Steve, enjoying the spring flowers and the sunshine (a rare sight lately). I've been crafting with the sun streaming through into the room, and warming my back. It's amazing how it can cheer you up!
In fact it's put me in such a good mood I'll give you news of a give-away in a moment. But first my card for the Theme Thursday subject of Spring, and using the sketch from CPS #50

---

Stamps : HA A Real Flower Drooping; BLine Rough Diamonds

Inks : Adirondack Dabbers Lemonade and Shell Pink; DI Aged Mahogany

Extras : MM RubOns and Eyelets; yellow ribbon

To celebrate my 300th post I'm offering these few goodies to one person who comments on this post. They are based on the theme of Spring - some papers, a sheet from Crafty Individuals, some Easter Peel-offs, some embellishments, and a few other things. The offer ends Thursday 14th Feb 10.00pm British time. Please leave some way of contacting you.

Daisy

I have used the (flipped over) sketch from DCM's challenge to make a birthday card for my next-door neighbour. It's a tradition that I always make her a card with her favourite flower on it.

Extras : Green ribbon and card; MM large Brad; Image from Crafty Individuals Butterflies and Flowers pad; Prima Flower

Victorian Fan

2Peas are having a winter festival of stamping this week, and one of their challenges is to make a Victorian fan, using this template. 'Japanning', or the art of black and gold lacquered woodwork, was very popular in this era, so I recreated my own version of it here. This also meets the Wednesday Stamper theme of Asia.

Inks : Adirondack Ink pad and Dabber Peach Bellini; Archival Black; Fluid Chalk Tangerine; DI Black Soot

Extras : Prima Flowers; Japanese paper and cord; Black Lace; MM eyelet

Here is the sketch and card for the 5th challenge. I have kept it simple as I have made it for Steve, and he doesn't like heavily embellished and fussy cards. The optional extra was to use the colours turquoise and brown.

Extras : PP by Crate paper; prima Flower; Letter brad unknown; Offray ribbon

Ismaki Challenge no1

Isa has joined forces with 2 friends, Magali and Kianel, to create a new challenge site Ismaki. Their first challenge is to use this sketch. I have used the option of an alternative shape. I sponged the flowers with the green, and spritzed with my homemade copper glimmer spray all over.
