The Theme Thursday challenge theme week is just vintage. I had so many ideas I didn't know which to leave out. However, I did know that I wanted to use this image from DarkRoom Door, which I stained with distress ink. I also wanted to give her a role. Every scan I took of her ended up distorted, so I resorted to photographing her on my floor!

Delicate colours

2 challenges again today. Kristina Werner has a colour challenge based on a purse, and Lots to Do have the theme of nature.

To match the colours given I spritzed the inked stamp before pressing it down. The red would have been too bright otherwise. Normally I would get the sewing machine out, but today I cheated, and pricked the holes around the edge. I've had this ribbon for ages, so was pleased that it matched!

Stamps: Tim Holtz Nature's Moments; Elusive Images Delightful Damask; Paper Artsy Petals 6

Inks: VersaColor Rose Red, Topaz and Celadon; Marvy Pen Jade Green

Extras: Ribbon; Water spritzer; Hole pricker; Red and Topaz Card

Sealed in copper

I don't normally get to join in the Wednesday Stamper challenges because I'm too busy mid week, but I'm on half term holiday, and they have an open theme. So here's my contribution.

I made the seal with 3 layers of Amazing Glaze and a top layer of copper embossing powder. This fulfilled a challenge set on 2Peas Stamp Camp to make a faux tile. The main image and folded card are sponged with cling film (clear food wrap) using metallic inks.

The card is half an ordinary notecard size.---

Sealed with a kiss

Disaster struck yesterday. I had sent 5 atcs to a friendship themed swap at Katy's Corner UK forum, only for the envelope to arrive empty, and open. So I have made 5 new ones, and really hope they arrive intact.

This atc is also my contribution to the Created byHand theme of Ribbon. You can't see it very clearly, but the ribbon is polka dotted. I used alcohol ink to colour the buttons. Now I see this on the screen I think I should have chosen a softer colour than the watermelon.

Bandana Technique

This is the theme from Saturday Workout. As I'm not always confortable with doodling this really was a challenge. I decided to use inks and stamps that have lain too long unused.

Steve and I have been away for the weekend to Derbyshire. We had hoped to walk up Dovedale, but it was completely flooded after a storm. We did manage to visit Chatsworth House, though. For those of you who live locally, lucky you with all that amazing scenery!

Autumn Ferns

2 challenges completed here - for a new site called Simply Skinnies whose theme is autumn, and also Created byHand who asks us to use walnut ink or crystals.

I only had a MoonGlow Copper spray which uses walnut ink as a base. However, I didn't spray with it, but painted over with a paintbrush, as the copper effect was less intrusive for this stamp.
Stamps: Simple Expressions Flora 5; BLine Designs Small Fern

Inks: MoonGlow Incandescent Copper Spray; DI Dried marigold; StazOn Olive Green

Extras: PM Copper Letter; R&L Alpha RubOns; Sheer Ribbon

Piece by piece

The Gothic Arches theme is paper patchwork. I've pieced together lots of little stamped fragments with an aged, faded out look. I think this would have been more effective with machine stitching, but was pleased to use the zigzag stamp.
Stamps: Simple Expressions The Orient and People 2; Stampers Anonymous Mosaic; Invoke Arts Backgrounds and Pens & Nibs; HA Ribbon stitches

Inks: VersaColor Heliotrope and Amethyst; Versamark

Extras: Detail opaque white EP; Dovecraft Brad; Waterbrush

Art dream

This is a change from my usual splash of colour, but I thought the muted tones suited the style of the card, which is meant to look aged.

The Saturday Workout challenge is to use a cracked glass technique. I looked everywhere in town this morning for some Johnson's floor polish as suggested on the Technique Zone, without success. So I dug some Amazing Glaze out of its long hiding place, and built up 3 layers of embossing before cracking it.

The metal embellishments were originally pewter, and therefore a bit bright, so I dulled them with copper Metallic RubOns.---

Wings of friendship

The Tag You're It challenge is to use the colours Pink, Green and Brown. To this I've added a challenge on the ISC blog to make a tag using Tim Holtz techniques. I used spritzed distress inks on a craft sheet to make the background.

The Created byHand theme this week is thank you. I used an embossed resist technique, and then ironed out the embossing powder so that I could stamp over it.

Glad Tidings

The Lots to Do challenge this week is to use some kind embossing on your work. To that I added 3 challenges from 2Peas - overlapping flourishes of different colours, using vintage lace with a Christmas theme, and using the work of someone as inspiration. I chose Nancy. Some of the flourishes are gold embossed.

Inks: Alcohol Inks Cranberry, Lettuce and Pearl Mixative; StazOn Olive Green; Versamark

Splat technique

I used this technique a while back. I think Patti Behan gave it a proper name when she demo-ed it on her blog, but as I can't remember it, 'splat' will do.

I made this atc for the acrylics paint challenge on Saturday Workout.
Stamps: Simple Expressions People 2; MSE Friends Always

Inks: Adirondack Dabbers Snow Cap, Butterscotch, Lemonade and Lettuce; StazOn Love Green; Adirondack Ink Lemonade; DI Spiced Marmalade

The fall of a leaf

When I saw the Tag You're It theme of Autumn I knew I wanted to use this quote, which I wrote out on the computer. I also entered this for a challenge on 2Peas. ---

Stamps: BLine Design Botanical Fern

Inks: H20s in Green Tea, Olive Vine, Gold Dust, Copper Penny and Chestnut Brown; Versamark

Extras: Silver Pearl EP; PM eyelet; Leaf Brad; Sheer Ribbon; Gold Paper

May the sun always shine on you

The Theme Thursday challenge is to make a purple 4x4. Easy!!

I don't think you can see the embossing on the quote very well, so I overstamped to give it more definition. Often when I do mad things like that it goes wrong, but this was right first time!
Stamps: Simple Expressions Flora 5

Inks: Adirondack Dabbers Silver, Cool Peri and Purple Twilight; DI Milled Lavender and Dusty Concord; Versamark; DI refill Milled Lavender; Adirondack ink Eggplant

Extras: Perfect pearls 'pearl'; Silver Brads; BB Purple card

Black Crow

This is an atc I made on a spooky theme for Inkurable Stampers. I find crows spook me, with their flapping wings and terrible cawing.
I wanted a soft border, so I sanded the edges and sponged with distress ink.
Stamps: Time to Stamp Birds of a Feather; PaperBag Studios Addison

Inks: Alcohol Inks Butterscotch, Terra Cotta and Pearl Mixative; StazOn Saddle Brown and Black; DI Black Soot

Extras: Glossy Card; Sander

Oriental bird

The Gothic Arches theme this week is turquoise - my favourite colour!!

I've added 3 extra challenges from 2Peas - a card of a different size, an unusual embellishment, and sparkle. I used the blue metallic RubOn on the coin to dull down the brightness of the gold. The difference in colour between a scan and a photo is amazing, but on my screen the scan is truer.
Stamps : Simple Expressions The Orient

Extras: Chinese Coin; Feather; Perfect Pearls Gold; Detail Gold EP; Metallic RubOns

Time will tell

The Make a Moo or Two challenge this week is clocks. This theme appealed to me again, and to it I've added a 2Peas challenge to make a card from a different size to normal. I feel with items this small that I want to use them in a card, otherwise I've no idea what to do with them!

I'm sure experienced Moo-ers will tell me they swap them or something.---
