Rejoice

The Salt challenge is something I've neglected for a while, but I loved the Rejoice theme up currently. I used the June week 3 sketch from 2Peas. The chipboard buckle was painted and painted and painted, so I couldn't possibly list all the inks it took to get this effect! The intention was to match the papers, which I think was successful.

Tribute to Gillian

The DCM midweek challenge it to make a tribute card to Gillian and Lynne, imitating the style of one of them, as a thank you for their work on the Design Team, and to say goodbye as they take their leave.

Both of them have been very inspirational, and very encouraging - their loss will be felt!

For this card I have added the verses from the Salt challenge, as Gillian loves to use scripture on her work, and used Distress Inks from Created ByHand. I rather regret using the glimmer mist, as it evened out all the colour from the distressing on the tag.

Deck of Me, weeks 37 & 38

The prompt for week 37 was draw something. Once again, I turned to Mary Fleeson's work for inspiration. The Salt challenge for this week is from the hymn book so this will be appropriate for that too.

'Light of the world you came down in the darkness, opened my eyes, let me see'. I have been singing this song all the while I have been drawing, grateful for the reminder. 'Here I am to say that you're my God.'

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The prompt for week 38 was I wonder..
I wonder at the tenaciousness of life. Even in extreme conditions there is evidence of living matter. Yesterday I noticed plants clinging to a wall that had benefitted from a dripping drainpipe. Survival is such a basic instinct.
When my daughter saw this card, she commented that it was just like the pub wall we pass regularly. It was easily recognisable!
In the beginning..
I thought I would contribute to 4x4 Friday's theme of create, dream and inspire, as it dovetailed Salt's theme of creation. Where better to go to than Genesis! My favourite part of this account is that God saw that it was good - He liked it!
God's promises
I have made this arch for 2 challenges - a new site called Saturday Stampers on poetry , and Salt Faith on God's promises.
I find the poetry of the Psalms absolutely beautiful, and relevant to every mood and emotion. These verses are from Psalm 119: 147-8
I rise before the dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in your word. My eyes stay open through the watches of the night, that I may meditate on your promises. ---
As the deer...
This is a thank you card for my friend Sally (mentioned in the entry below), on the theme of water for Salt Faith.
I spent a long time on the background, only for it to get ruined as I put it through the printer. So I salvaged what I could, and printed on tracing paper instead. For the background I glued scrumpled tissue paper onto card, and then coloured it. Too bad you can't see the ripple effect this gives! The deer image is from the internet.
Life to the full
I've incorporated 2 challenges on this card : 'red' for Technique Thursday, and 'Life to the full' for Salt. I wondered whether the white on cream would show up on the scan, but you can see it well enough. I sponged the magnolia on the background white card to soften the contrast.
This is for church friends who are moving away. We are sad to see them go, but know that they will use their gifts to encourage new Christians wherever they are. They have run 2 Alpha courses here.
