Chief Sitting Bull

The theme of Wednesday Stampers for this week is Wild West. As I have just finished reading The Last Report of Little No Horse, by Louise Erdrich, I felt I wanted to portray a native American in some way. Who better than Chief Sitting Bull, perhaps the most famous one of all?

Ribbon- topped recipe

The DCM midweek challenge is to use lots of ribbon again, this time with 4 eyelets, 3 circles and 2 rectangles. I think I've managed to include all of those. Apologies for the wonky scanning - it was too bulky to lie flat!

Extras : PP by Imaginisce and Blonde moments; glue pen; Ultrafine glitter; Doodlebug ricrac; PM buttons; striped ribbon and die cut flowers from CWC; MM eyelets; Gluedots

Extras : plastic tag (source unknown); space dyed threads; gold paper

R for Rose

I've gone for a simple design for Isa's R challenge. There is a beautiful stamp by Stampington which I haven't got, so I tried to recreate my own version of it in miniature, including the colour red, set as an optional extra.

I wondered about using 'Ros' but don't know anyone of my name to send it to!

Stamps : Stampington Fresh Flowers Elements; Time to Stamp ATC set 1; Invoke Arts backgrounds

Deck of Me, weeks 33 & 34

The prompt for week 33 was 10 minutes. Whatever art work was done was to take no longer this time.

It was a rush to make this in 10 minutes, and this was with a ready made background. God achieved creating the whole universe in 6 days - now I know why He needed a rest!

Stamps : AudDesign; Clarity stamps clock; Time to Stamp ATC sets 1 & 2

Inks : DI Milled Lavender, Dusty Concord, Antique Linen and Broken China; Archival black

For week 34 the theme was funny ha-ha.

My neighbour doesn't think we take our housegroup seriously as there's always so much laughter when we meet. Studyingthe Bible is fun with others!

Tuesday's Tempting Template

What a mouthful! DCM gave us a sketch for the midweek challenge.

Here is my version of it. For some reason, it took me ages to get the colours right! I think this is the first card on my blog to use no inks or stamps (no wonder I found it hard!).

Papers by Imaginisce and Fancy Pants; PM yellow brads; Paper Cellar crystal; flower punch

Green Fingers

The Gothic Arch challenge for this week was hands. I was really stuck with this theme, but Steve was gardening and then I had a eureka moment! As fingers are a part of the hand I have based my arch on them.
( I used an alternative model - his fingers were more brown than green!)

Through the wardrobe

I used Narnia as my inspiration for the Saturday Stampers theme of Winter.

After sponging various blues onto the card, I spritzed water on it, which gives the snowy effect. For once, this looks better on the scan!!

Stamps : PaperBag Studios Addisson set

Inks : Adirondack Sailboat Blue, Stonewashed and Bright Yellow; DI Faded Jeans; ColorBox Frost White; Versamark pen

Extras : Silver detail EP

Q for Queen Butterfly

After binning 2 attempts, I am settling for this for Isa's Q challenge. (The 1st day of half term, and my brain has gone flop!) During our walk this afternoon we met a friend who was weeding around the herbs in her front garden - which became the inspiration behind this atc.

Stamps : Elusive Images Butterfly; Stampington Butterfly Girl and Bay Leaf

Inks : watercolour pencils; Fluid Chalk Tangerine; VersaColor Topaz; StazOn Black

Extras : blender pen; SGme Clear EP; FancyPants PP

In the beginning..

I thought I would contribute to 4x4 Friday's theme of create, dream and inspire, as it dovetailed Salt's theme of creation. Where better to go to than Genesis! My favourite part of this account is that God saw that it was good - He liked it!

DCM are celebrating their 1st birthday, and I would like to send my felicitations with this card. The theme is circle. I would like to thank the DT for encouraging me to blog in the first place - Bondgirl particularly - and then thank you for my new circle of friends. The warmth of a friend's presence brings joy to our hearts, sunlight to our souls, and pleasure to all of life.

Deck of Me, weeks 31 & 32

The prompt for week 31 was no regrets...
I recently left leading one housegroup to start another. It was a wrench to leave fellowship with dear friends, but has been exciting to watch new Christians blosson and grow. It's a privilege to share the journey.

The text on the card says : You do not realise how far you have come until you look behind.

Stamps : HA Fancy Heart Filament; Crafty Individuals 53; AudDesign

Inks : Ecoline inks Ultramarine violet and turquoise blue; VersaColor Amethyst; H2O Icy Iris; Archival black; Marvy black pen

Inks : H2Os in Fern, Seaglass, Olive Vine, Melon Midori and Blue Zircon; StazOn Olive Green, Archival Black; Versamagic Turquoise Gem

The TMTA theme of moon and stars had me stumped a bit until I saw a picture of this weather vane on the internet. The roof tiles are from the mayang gallery of images. No stamping here, but I enjoyed making the shimmery background.

Inks : Kaleidacolor Blue Breeze; Sticky Fingers spray Delphinium; MoonGlow spray Lapis Lazuli Fire; Black ink pad

Extras : images from the internet

Deck of Me, weeks 29 & 30

Emily's prompt for week 29 was to define perfection.

Perfection on earth will be the New Jerusalem, shaped as a cube. Three pearl gates on each of the vertical walls which are encrusted with jewels will not allow anything impure within. Rev 21.

This is a representation of the jewels.

Stamps : Elusive Images Wise Men; AudDesign

Inks : H2Os in Cranberry, blue flame, Garnet and Melon Midori; Versamark; Archival Black

Extras : Black EP

For week 30 I had to count my blessings.

I have a boy who feels left out by the celebration of daughters! He is definitely a blessing, and has lived up to the name of Peter by being a rock to those around him.
Peter chose everything for this card - the photo, stamps and colours.

Stamps : HA Long Writing Background; AudDesign
Inks : DI Mustard Seed, Frayed Burlap and Antique Linen; Archival Black
Extras : MM RubOns

The Wednesday Stamper theme for this week is inchies - stamped 1 inch squares. It was good to try a new size, but hard to find stamps small enough! I have admired the inchies on other blogs, and it's about time I tried one.
The materials for the inchies are all scraps from other projects. As I'm bound to lose them I made them into a card.

Answers on a postcard

The DCM challenge is to make, and send, a postcard. As this obviously needs to be flat I resisted the temptation to add layers, but think it loses something in the process. I would have liked to create contrast with coordinating papers. I think I might need to cover it with acetate to protect the inks running if it gets wet.

Stamps : R&L Travel France set; AudDesign

Inks : VersaMagic Hint of Pesto; Impress Garnet; Marvy pen Pastel Peach

Extras : PP by Fancy Pants

Deck of Me, weeks 27 & 28

The prompt for week 27 was junk mail.

This is from a flier asking for unwanted clothes for charity - timely for the coats I sorted out the other day. We all have the potential to act as angels to others in many ways. Proverbs 14.21

Stamps : AudDesign; PSX Angel; Inca Stamps Rose

Inks : Archival black; VersaColor Old Rose; Adirondack Mountain Lake

Week 28's prompt was goal of the week.

My goal is to prepare some bible studies on John's pospel in advance for the housegroup next term. I find I learn so much more when I lead the sessions; having a good commentary helps!

I used watercolour pencils to colour in my own design, loosely based on the work of Mary Fleeson.

Wednesday, 3 October 2007

The Wednesday Stamper theme for this week is Autumnal colours. The background is ecoline and gold spray - slightly richer irl. I thought I would try a pearl gold EP, as normal gold doesn't seem to scan well. This ties in with the Technique Thursday theme of embossing powders too.

Stamps : Elusive Images : Butterflies

Inks : Ecoline inks in Forest Green, Burnt Sienna and Chartreuse; Fluid Chalk Burnt Sienna and Yellow Ochre; StazOn Olive Green; Versamark; Sticky Fingers spray Antique Gold

Extras : Pearl Gold EP

Post Haste

The DCM challenge is to include a used postage stamp on your card. Mine is a stamp of a musical instrument from Mongolia.

Pirates of Penzance

Ahoy there, me hearties!

The TMTA theme for this week is Pirates. And I, being me, couldn't resist the temptation to use one of the better known G&S operettas as my theme. I have played in the pit for this on many occasions. And every time, it makes me laugh :-)
The advert and the pirate king are images from the internet.

Stamps : Stampington Checker Board; Time to Stamp ATC set 1

Inks : DI Broken China and Faded Jeans; VersaColor Topaz; Marvy pen Oriental Blue
