Pink, for life

The Theme Thursday challenge this week is music/dance. I used a pink colour scheme so that I could send this to Sammie to support her in raising money for Cancer Research.

Batik flowers

The Tag You're it challenge is to alter a fabric flower. To this I've added a challenge from 2Peas to include pp, stamping and some ribbon.

The stamped flowers are cut out of batik fabric, backed with vilene.

This old heart of mine

This is my first contribution to the Sunday Stampers challenge. The theme is hearts.

I used the versamark resist technique on glossy card, with brayering on the darker layers.

The 2nd card fulfils 4 different challenges: to stamp your own embellishment (I stamped on the flower button), using given inspiration (see entry below for picture), using 3 analogous colours on the colour wheel, and using stamps from at least 3 different companies.

When at night I go to sleep..

I have used some lyrics from the opera Hansel and Gretal for the Gothic Arch challenge Guardian angel. It is a song I used to sing a lot when I was younger.

Because I have run out of time, and need to prepare for the new term, which starts tomorrow (eek!), I will have to double this challenge too, and add it to the Wednesday Stamper Gothic Arch challenge.

Best friends

The Theme Thursday challenge is on friends, and the 4x4 Friday theme is blue & silver.

This image is from Flickr. Don't you just love the expression of the smallest girl!?

I have tried another Tim Holtz technique on this - mix together 1 pipette full of broken china ink refill with a small scoop of Perfect Pearls 'pearl' in a mini mister, and fill it 3/4 full with water. Shake thoroughly, and spray. The colours are my choice, but the variations are endless. Before this I sponged on Faded Jeans and sprayed with the Sticky Fingers inks. This is the same work; above it was scanned, and below it was photographed. As you can see on the 2nd image, the pearl comes out quite silvery. These colours are closer to the original.

Queen of clubs

Theme Thursday asked for work on the subject of playing cards. I couldn't get any spade images to work, and was digging myself into a hole (lol) so they have been omitted. For some strange reason spades was my worst suit as a child; hearts being my favourite.

One of the reasons I don't write much on my blog is that I'm afraid you'll find out how odd I am!! (The above being a perfect example!)

Tidings of great joy

The Created Byhand challenge is to make a card on the theme of Christmas with vintage browns and burgundy. I used the colours they suggested, but they've come out more pink than burgundy on the top layer.
The image is from Flickr.

Party

The Gothic Arch theme for this week is party. I was pleased to discover this photo at my local antique market. I painted castaway ink in the centre of clear embossed daisies, then ironed the EP and the colour out.

Answers on a postcard

The DCM challenge is to make, and send, a postcard. As this obviously needs to be flat I resisted the temptation to add layers, but think it loses something in the process. I would have liked to create contrast with coordinating papers. I think I might need to cover it with acetate to protect the inks running if it gets wet.

Life to the full

I've incorporated 2 challenges on this card : 'red' for Technique Thursday, and 'Life to the full' for Salt. I wondered whether the white on cream would show up on the scan, but you can see it well enough. I sponged the magnolia on the background white card to soften the contrast.
This is for church friends who are moving away. We are sad to see them go, but know that they will use their gifts to encourage new Christians wherever they are. They have run 2 Alpha courses here.

Faking it

In the midweek DCM challenge we have to use anything 'faux'. I have used the faux batik method for the background and the flower, the button is a piece of chipboard, the ribbons are stamped.
Just a quick card today as it's the last week of term, and musically very busy. Not me, but my children! However, I'll be playing for a wedding on Sunday.

Ela

This is a photo from Leni's site. She's having a little holiday draw on Monday.

Here's the link if you want to look : http://crealeni.blogspot.com/2007/07/ferien-verlosung-vacation-draw.html

I'm really pleased to use this harlequin paper, as I've had it for ages, and never known how to use it. It seemed to match the photo really well. Yellow is a colour I rarely use. The word says adorable.

G for gems

Here's another card for Isa's alphabet challenge. The colours are much brighter irl, but I think I prefer them on here. The background is sprayed, and the pink colour-washed with the same inks. The stems are hand doodled.

Faberge Egg

The Wednesday Stamper theme of eggs really got me scratching my head. (Could I say my brain was scrambled!?) Then I went and looked up images of Faberge eggs. This is my hand-drawn version of one.

The sparkle on the card hasn't come through the scan again, but now that my camera has been returned from being left behind by my daughter on a Spanish Exchange trip (!), I can show you a photo of it.
After watercolouring the background with garnet and fired brick, and then stamping on it with raspberry, I rubbed the pearlescent tinting on the background at the end to give a lovely sheen.

E for Eiffel Tower

Isa has put a new challenge up - based on the letter E, with option a) - use the colours brown, pink, and blue; and option b) - use swirls.

This is the first time I have used gesso - thank you Tina for the advice. I like the cloud effect it creates.

The caramel has come out quite orangey, but there are brown embellishments.

Teddy Ollie

Rein put a challenge on her blog to use this picture of a teddy. I'm not quite sure why he became Ollie, but it seemed an affectionate name, and he is so cute! He's just sitting, waiting for somebody to pick him up and love him!

Here's the link : http://stampingrika.blogspot.com/2007/06/teddy-bear-card.html

The photo didn't print out very well on my aged printer, so I made my own backgrounds. It's a shame the scanner doesn't show how pearly they are.
