Royal flourish

Today I had such a fun time experimenting with homemade glimmer sprays with a friend of mine. Isn't it great how different people come in from another angle, and suggest and try things you hadn't thought of. Thank you for playing with me, Rachel!

The 4x4 Friday challenge is entitled Kings and Queens. I love the calligraphic style of signatures and flourishes that they used to sign documents with, and these have influenced this card.

Wedding card and present

In my last post I mentioned that I had been making a patchwork hanging for a wedding present. Two sweet friends from our church are getting married tomorrow, both of them employed in the Youth Work and dearly loved by our children. I managed to make a card and fulfill the requirements of Theme Thursday 's pink and brown challenge.

Below is a photo of the quilt. I have yet to sew on the hanging sleeve. We have used batiks throughout, basing it on their favourite colours.

Textured and Purple

It's good to be back crafting after the enforced break. Concerts, school workload, collaborating on a patchwork quilt for a wedding present, and an 18th birthday left me with no time at all. I found getting back to it strangely hard today, but in no time at all was covered in ink! Great to play with my new stamps too!

This is my contribution for TMTA's theme of texture, and Wednesday Stamper's colour purple. The scanner doesn't pick up the texture, but I inked up the background stamps quite heavily with the acrylic paints. This is sprayed over with homemade glimmer mists, and then I sponged through some sequin waste.

Fairy wishes

I have finally found a bit of time to myself to create but will probably not be seen again for another week. My work load has been enormous, and will be until term ends next Thursday. Then I will on the scene again. I have missed you all, my blogging friends.

I made this card for my goddaughter - and on the right you can see she made one for me! Her favourite colour is purple, of course! The background is distressed, and oversprayed with homemade glimmer mist. This suits the 4x4 Friday theme of Faeries.
Yesterday I went to the NEC and had a great time buying stamps, but was very disappointed by the lack of variety of inks. Did anyone else go?

Paris in Spring Colours

I wanted to experiment with another recipe for shimmer sprays - using ecoline instead of Distress ink refills. It works just as well.

The triptych is the topic for TMTA this week, and Paris is on the Theme Thursday site.

Playing with sprays

Last night I got out my sprays for the card on the entry below. I decided to have a play with the copper Moonglow for the first time, which I combined with a homemade mist. So I'll enter this for the Created ByHand challenge, but also for the Wednesday Stamper challenge, which is to include glasses. (I presumed 'spectacles', rather the the 'drinking-out-of' variety!)

I copper embossed the metal spiral and brads. And for once, the scan has picked up the metallic shimmer - hooray!
