Doodle with Kaboodle

There's a new site on the block, called Kaboodle Doodles. For their 1st challenge you can download some patterned paper to use in any way you wish. There's a choice of 4 colourways. I really like the drama in the black and red option. I doodled the border of the sentiment to match the butterflies and the ribbon.
I seem to have gone back into butterfly mode!

For Ros

The Lots to Do challenge today is to craft your name. Fortunately mine is a short one! This is intended to be the cover of a 4x4 book for forum swaps. The two sprays that I used were very vivid, but have blended well together and toned down, although the scan hasn't picked up the glimmer. I'm not convinced by the flourishes along the left hand side, but as this is where the holes will be punched by the BIA it doesn't really matter.
I've added a photo taken at an angle which gives you some idea of the glimmer:

Laugh and love tag

The challenge on the Saturday Workout site is to use the shaving foam technique. There's a very good tutorial for it on this site. Even Peter enjoyed this one, and insisted on mixing the colours and pressing the card down himself. I noticed he disappeared when it came to clearing up....
I think you can just about see the sparkle on the photo.

Fluttering off

I don't usually participate in moo challenges, because I'm not too keen on the size, but today I couldn't resist the butterfly theme on Make a Moo or Two. I thought I'd make them up into a card for a friend who's off to university in September.

I shall also submit this to the 2Peas Hoarders challenge of using up 3 items you've had in your stash for a while. The moo background paper was a left over from another project, and the brad and the patterned paper were items in an RAK.

Time keeper

I made this atc for the Created ByHand Challenge which was to use a new technique. I see that the TMTA challenge is called Tick Tock...fascinating watches, so I'll enter this for both.

The new technique is one I saw on Patti Behan's new blog, where you 'splat' with Dabbers. She demonstrates this on a video. This image covers up most of the background, but you can see evidence of the splatting! I distressed the edges of the atc with some scissors (not having any fancy gadgets) and sponged with gold.

Where did you get that hat?

The Lots to Do challenge for this week is iris paper folding. I've never tried this before, but gave it a go. Remarkably like paper piecing in patchwork in effect, which I enjoy.

I shall try and redo the photography in daylight tomorrow - it looks a bit warped!
Edited : the card was given away before I had a chance!

Art from the past

This is my design for the orange skinnies swap on Lots to do forum. The background is made by layering up the stamping. Not many oranges used, but I think the overall effect is orangey!

Movie Star

The Tag You're It challenge is to use paper punches. I've used a tag punch and the eyelets are cropadiled (if that's a verb!!). Strange that the ribbon has come out quite dull - irl it's brighter!

Damask Butterfly

This is a card I made for a challenge on the Artylicious site to use stampbord. This created many problems for me, and nearly didn't get made. The butterfly on the stampbord turned out paler than I wanted but I couldn't tamper with it as it's my only piece and I would probably have wrecked it!

Then the background ended up much brighter than I wanted so I streaked diluted gesso on it and kept sanding the colour away. I suppose I can't hide from the fact that I'm a bright colour lover!

The only way of copying it to here was to photograph it, in the dark, on a white cloth. So it is really a square card!

The Arty Girlz challenge is to add shapes to your work. Lots of shapes here: some punched and some stamped. This has come out quite bright - sorry if you have to reach for the sunglasses!

Hermine inspired

Hermine has set a challenge on her blog to use her background as the basis of a new art piece. It seems sacrilege to do anything to it as it stands on its own as a fantastic piece of fabric paper, but needs must! I've used a feature stamp, and faintly added complimentary stamps to the background, which is only a small section of the piece, but my favourite part.
